  1. i bought this paper recently and i love it. i love the texture and the effect. it loos so messy and thats beautiful.

  2. This is a great demo. Rosapina is 60% cotton. This Canson is likely closer to what Fabriano calls "soft" press, which is still a cold press, though Canson is with no cotton, Fabriano Artistico soft press is 100% cotton. And I agree, this is not best for wet on wet.

  3. The only issue I have is the layout. I mean, you have to tear each page out, otherwise it will fall out. I wish it had rings so you wouldn’t have to worry about that. Ik they have one with rings but I don’t see why you would need a book like this

  4. I use watercolor on this paper and it literally buckles so bad even when i tape it down and kinda like shreds off in tiny paper bits?? What am i doing wrong?

  5. Thanks for this review! I just started looking at diving into watercolour or gouache painting for something I'd like to start this Fall or Winter. I'm trying to get supplies and found this really helpful to see your product review

  6. For sketching this paper is probably fine. I question the validity of comparing a sketch type cellulose paper with a cotton watercolour paper that's made specifically for finished watercolours. I think that perhaps you need to cut back on the amount of water you use with this paper when using pigments.

  7. thanks so much for this review. I’m a super freaking beginner haha – started painting last week. and I was going to order this paper because I thought it was good paper. so you’ve saved me some money, and educated me a whole lot. thank you! 🙏🏾

  8. I love this paper because it's so available and cheap and I can play in ways I could never justify with expensive paper. It's not perfect by any means but anything that gives license to create is good.

  9. I use this for copic doodles I have to switch with the marker canson paper but atleast I can use it for both styles

  10. I've actually been putting off using canson as my "fancy paper" cuz i found a bunch of partial cotton paper at my discount store, i thought since the cheap cotton paper has a lighter weight it might not be as good but.. hmmm maybe i should use canson and see the horrors it has

  11. Does gouache work (An acrylic-watercolor hybrid that looks like watercolor when well diluted in water and feels like it)?

  12. Thanks for this review. I tried two larger paintings and felt so frustrated and wanted to give up. This paper is not good at all for larger washes. I'll be trying cotton paper next time

  13. OBSERVATION!! I noticed it says, "Cold Press" on the bottom left in english as you said but right under it in the transtlations it says, "Fine Grain."

  14. malisimo, le pone un litro de agua. Yo vi muchos que dicen que es bueno. Este pelotudo hace quedar mal a este papel. Yo lo voy a probar porque lo recomiendan muchos

  15. I started with Canson in the 1990s and the cover had the words "Rag Content" and a percentage. The paper was a wonderful Cold Press on one side and Hot Press on the other. 19" inches wide. From 'Wonderful' to about 'decent' due to the mix of the Economy and time.

  16. I think this is the video for me..because im confused because i want to know if this paper is good with miya gouache paint

  17. I am a beginner too, and omg what a difference paper makes!!!! Tried arches ( super good) winsor and newton professional and blick premium. Paints just flow and listen to you! Canson is used for testing colors and sketches. I bought a lot of expensive paints and tried to save on paper. Not worth the frustration!

  18. I would always notice my paper peeling from the page itself whenever I try to take off some paint and my painting would be completely ruined. Same with blending, I have to do it myself and gently dab the colors together since I can’t rub that hard or else it’ll rip. I’m still a beginner in watercolor and I think this paper is good for me to practice on but it is quite frustrating to have something like that happen and never be able to know what my painting would truly look like if i had paper of better quality. I draw eyes and I often have to blend the colors together to create natural looking skin rather than having hard edges or blocks of colors. will definitely invest in better quality paper in the future.

Thank you for this review, I’ve learned a lot.

  19. The Canson XL Watercolor paper doesn’t say acid free but on the website it does state that’s what I don’t like about that paper but overall good for practice but not for professional I suggest the canson heritage it’s Hot press acid free and 100% cotton not a wood pulp watercolor which the Xl watercolor is

  20. I agree with your review. I personally don't like it. For ink I have found really good. But watercolours? I have been frustrating by the lack of movement between colours, basically you have to do most of the work yourself. I created lots of puddles which I found myself blotting out a lot! It leaves a lot of hard edges, even if you soften it , it doesn't look great. I have bought it because I wanted a cheaper alternative for doing studies…I don't think I will buy this one anymore. What brand do you recommend for this type of work? Thank you!

  21. I'm sorry but can you tell me the paper you used with the blue paint. It's difficult for me to make out what you said and the captions say Bob Brianna :/
    Ty :)

  22. What brand would you recommend for watercolor, apart from Arches? I would like a better quality one but Arches is a bit crazy for me. Thanks!

  23. I used to use this for my pieces but realized its just not good for actual pieces. I switched to Hahnmule cotton paper, you get about 300 sheets for $50 CAD, and its like night and day. I DO use this however for swatching colors, testing colors, etc. Otherwise its pretty much unusable.
